Cet ouvrage est la retranscription de l’enregistrement de la dernière conférence publique de R&Sie(n) en janvier 2050 à l’auditorium du deSingel à Anvers. La structure urbaine auto-organisationnelle « I’ve heard about » dont il est question ici est visitable sur http://www.new-territories.com /I’veheardabout.htm. L’ensemble des processus et modes de croissance tels qu’ils ont été émis en 2005 y sont décrits (prototypes, robotiques, protocoles sociaux, etc.). L’échec à la fois esthétique et politique de cette indétermination urbaine est devenu avec le temps celui de son architecte. Dans ce témoignage, cet échec fait corps avec sa propre décrépitude. Cela n’est pas sans rappeler le monologue rageur et désespéré d’Henry Hull jouant Louis Sullivan, dans les premieres scènes du film de King Vidor, Le Rebelle.

This text is a transcription of R&Sie(n)’s last public lecture, in January 2050 at the De Singel auditorium in Antwerp. The self-organizing urban structure referred to here can be visited at http://www.new-territories.com/I’veheardabout. htm, which provides a description of the ensemble of processes and growth modes developed in 2005 (prototypes, robotics, social protocol, etc.). This urban indetermination failed in both the aesthetic and political realms, and, over time, this failure marked its architect as well. In this speech, this failure is linked to his own decline in a way that inevitably brings to mind the desperate, ranting monologue delivered by Henry Hull (playing the character Henry Cameron, based on the Louis Sullivan) in the opening scenes of Kind Vidor’s film The Fountainhead.
